Kenny Withrow is the guitarist for Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians, and is one of my favorite guitarists in general. In ep. 207 of the Lone Sound podcast, Kenny visits the studio to talk about the new EBNB album “Hunter and the Dog Star” and the Grateful Dead’s influence on his longstanding musical career.

Kenny also talks about what it was like playing with Jerry Garcia. We also chat about playing Dead tunes in Dallas, and why his favorite group to collaborate with is his own band (EBNB).
I loved hearing Kenny’s take on jamming, practicing, and creating—and how he and Edie start the songwriting process. As Edie puts it, “there’s stories all around if you pay attention. It’s limitless…and they want to be told.”
