A memorable evening at the Kessler Theater with Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians
Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians just wrapped up a quick Texas run Aug. 12-14 through Houston, Dallas and finally Austin at the Paramount.
We felt fortunate to catch the band’s soundcheck before its back-to-back shows on Friday the 13th at the Kessler Theater in Dallas—which, by the way, is located in Oak Cliff, where Edie Brickell is from.
The band performed old favorites (“Circles,” “What I Am”) as well as new music (“My Power,” “Horse’s Mouth”) from Hunter and the Dog Star, its latest LP (set list below). Someone who attended the 9:30 pm performance said the band brought tears to her eyes.
Every member on stage brings an incredible level of musicianship, but what’s most evident is the connection they have and enjoyment they get from playing together. We’re looking forward to more music to come, since they’re now all based in the Hill Country. It’s like the early days, when they all lived in Dallas.
All this to say, we hope you’ll get the chance to see them soon. And check out photos form the band’s homecoming show at the Kessler below.
Finally, we interviewed EBNB guitarist Kenny Withrowon the podcast (and if you’re reading this, you’ll most likely dig the episode).
